Parkstone Grammar School has a friendly and lively PSA organisation. The aim of the PSA is to raise funds for the school and add value to the amenities already enjoyed by all students.
Money has been raised to purchase a large variety of resources for the school. Most recently our work contributed to the purchase of a second minibus, and outdoor seating areas for the students to use during break and lunchtimes. Additionally we have been actively involved in purchasing stadium seating in the lecture theatre, a new sound system for the hall, new hall and stage curtains, as well as the funds contributed to the outfitting of the new Sports Hall and Art, Mathematics and Technology Block. These are elements that enrich students’ lives and to which the school budget does not always extend. We are still raising money for the school and look forward to providing other items for the school in the future.
In March we held our family quiz night where there was a raffle, games and a bar. Great fun was had by all and from this we raised £1400.00
The PSA raises funds through various functions including an ever popular quiz evening and the bi annual Car Boot Sale. We are still raising money… Our most recent event was a Car Boot Sale that was held in April. There was a fantastic turnout with over 150 sellers and approximately 800 buyers. This event raised approximately £1700 of which we agreed to give 50% towards the Green Power project. This is run as an after school club to give the pupils an insight into engineering. The students who take part build, with the support and guidance of some volunteers from Siemens, a battery powered car that they take to various race circuits throughout the year for endurance racing against other schools in the country.
