Parent Voice
Our relationship with parents and carers is very important to us. Working together we can support your child to thrive at Parkstone.
For that reason we value your opinions and views on how we can improve. You can email Mr Hallsworth direct with any suggestions at headteacher@Parkstone.poole.sch.uk. Alternatively you can meet him at Parents’ Evening or make an appointment to come in and chat. Please also leave feedback for Ofsted by following this link to the Ofsted Parent View page.
Parental survey 2015-16
We should like to thank everyone who responded to our survey carried out in March. We had an excellent response with a total of 1094 parents giving their views.
The responses were predominantly very positive. It is very pleasing that an overwhelming number of parents believe that their children are happy at the school, feel safe, are well cared for and are motivated to learn within Parkstone’s positive learning environment. It is also excellent to see that the majority of parents feel that students are well behaved and that they would recommend Parkstone to other parents.
The response to the questions on communication, accessibility to information, and response to concerns was good, but as a school that prides itself on not standing still we still feel we can improve in these areas. The introduction of Groupcall will have the positive effect of enhancing communication with parents and, in particular, provides an effective method of allowing parents to access Assessment information in Reports and Grade Cards by delivering them directly to their mail box. Additionally, we are currently updating and improving the school website, providing quicker and more accessible information for parents, students and other visitors alike, in response to your feedback.
We are also very pleased that the students’ survey, carried out in line with the parental survey, mirrored parents’ positive responses. Students also stated that they enjoyed school, felt safe and thought they were taught well in a pleasant environment with a fair and respectful ethos. They felt that lessons were well taught and they were confident of the support available to them.
Overall we were very pleased with the responses. We will use this valuable feedback given to us by parents and students to feed into the School Development Plan for the academic year 2016-17. This will include issues highlighted through the survey replies and written comments that accompanied some of the feedback, particularly in the areas of :
- Homework
- Feedback to students on completed work
- Information on progress to parents
For your information, please find attached a copy of the graph showing the results of the parental responses. We always value parents’ feedback and welcome this at any time. Thank you again for participating.
