Parkstone students participated in the event of a lifetime recently when they joined with other local musicians to perform at the Music for Youth’s Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 5 November 2018.
The piece was commissioned by the BSO to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the orchestra. It was written by James Redwood in collaboration with local schools and first performed at Lighthouse, Poole in May.
The amazing event at the Royal Albert Hall involved over 600 performers taking part on stage, as well as a finale featuring over 1000 performers. The piece also drew on players from Southampton, Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Preparations were intense – the final rehearsal was in the Mayflower Cruise Terminal – the only venue big enough!
