We welcome applications from parents who live in the Local Authority area and beyond. Admission is at 11+ into Year 7 and is by entrance test. Entry into other years is by entrance test and dependent upon places being available. Applications for the Sixth Form are dependent upon meeting entrance requirements at GCSE. Our Admissions Policy is reviewed and ratified annually, please ensure you read the policy for your child’s proposed academic year of entry.

Registration for main round testing for entry to Year 7 in September 2025 closed at 12 midday on Friday 6 September 2024.

YEAR 7 ENTRY IN SEPTEMBER 2026
Registration for the entrance test in September 2025 (for entry to Year 7 in September 2026) opens on Tuesday 22 April 2025 and will close at 12 midday on Friday 5 September 2025.
There is one set of selection tests for Bournemouth School, Bournemouth School for Girls, Parkstone Grammar School and Poole Grammar School (the ‘Consortium’). For parents who are considering more than one selective school within the Consortium for their child, this will save them from taking multiple tests for these schools.

If your child has a Special Educational Need and/or Disability (SEND) or is in receipt of an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), and you would like to apply for access arrangements for the entrance test, you must submit a completed Application for Access Arrangements form and supporting evidence by the deadline of 12 midday on Monday 8 September 2025. Registered students will sit three GL Assessment multiple-choice tests in English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning. Free familiarisation papers are available to download from the ➡GL Assessment website.

Parkstone Grammar School is proud to be open to students from all backgrounds.
To encourage even greater representation of children at Parkstone Grammar School, we are working in partnership with Atom Learning, a leading online Key Stage 2 learning and 11+ preparation platform, to provide students who are eligible for Pupil Premium with free online learning and entrance test preparation.
This programme is designed to help children familiarise themselves with the type of questions they may see on the 11+ entrance test, and build exam technique and confidence. They’ll be able to access KS2 and 11+ practice questions, learning resources, and practice papers through their Atom Home account.
If your child has been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years, please fill in the form via the link below. They will be given free access to Atom Home when their Pupil Premium status has been verified by their primary school.

In the event that an application is unsuccessful, parents/carers have the right to appeal to an Independent Panel for admission to any school they name on their application form and are not offered. Parents/carers of students applying for Year 7 entry cannot appeal ahead of offers being posted by the Local Authority at the start of March.

For applications for In Year entry, appeals can be submitted once you have received a letter refusing a place at Parkstone Grammar School. For applications for Sixth Form entry, appeals can be submitted after GCSE results have been received. You should lodge your appeal as soon as possible and the Coastal Association of School Appeals (CASAppeals) will aim to hear your appeal within 30 school days from the date your appeal is lodged.

Although the usual ages of admission are 11 and 16, suitably qualified students between these ages may be admitted where there are vacancies. Sixth form students are required to have achieved six GCSEs (including Mathematics and English Language) at grade 5 or above. Different subjects have more specific requirements. Our Prospectus and Supplementary Booklet will provide further information.
