Students have many opportunities to extend their learning through a rich range of extra-curricular activities. There is a wide range of clubs and societies. These include an excellent range of sports clubs for including football, netball, cricket, table tennis and trampolining in addition to inter-school competitions. A very successful set of music ensembles, choirs and orchestras operate in addition to clubs as varied as Coding, Astronomy, Law and Debate, Christian Union, Handchimes, Gardening and Zoology.
These clubs are run by a mixture of teachers, other staff and senior students. In addition, there are special events such as musicals and plays as well which bring together a wealth of dramatic and musical talent from Parkstone and Poole Grammar Schools.
Individual music lessons can also be arranged in school and examinations for the Royal College of Music qualifications may be taken. There are many thriving music groups including the orchestra, concert band, brass group and chamber choir.
The students are very proud of their annual charity weeks and special Christmas Party for local senior citizens.
All students have the opportunity to represent their peers through Key Stage Committees and Student Cabinet, playing an important part in the running of the school. The Cabinet’s work reflects the ability of the students to initiate, communicate and take responsibility for a range of topical issues. In addition, there is a full programme of trips and visits.
We encourage all of our students to become involved in extra-curricular activities. For our Pupil Premium students significant contributions can be made towards alternative transport to enable participation in extracurricular activities. Please contact the member of staff running the session if you need help with transport costs for extracurricular activities.
