Should severe weather be a problem to the area, we shall of course do our utmost to keep the school open. However, in the event that we have to close the school we shall use a number of means to communicate that to parents if the decision has to be made very early in the morning. Obviously we shall be keeping a close watch on the various weather forecasts and if we can make the decision on the previous day then we shall do so.
If the decision has to be made early in the morning, as soon as we have a clear picture of conditions within the school grounds and whether the buses are running we shall then communicate if the school is to be closed. Please note however that some of the bus companies may not make their decision about whether they can run their buses until after 7.00 am. As well as using Groupcall (email and Xpressions message) and the website which we shall try to update as early as possible, in the event of a school closure as a result of extreme weather conditions we shall also be using a text messaging service provided by GroupCall. We will also post to our Twitter account (@ParkstoneGS).
In the event of such weather conditions we shall use these methods of communication with parents as well as informing Heart FM and Wave 105 radio stations so that they can include notification of school closure on their website and broadcasts.
